A 4-Week Workshop for Committed couples to improve and strengthEN

their relationship.

Next Workshop: Starting October 19th, 2019 in Cary, NC

The 7 Principles Workshop is based on the New York Times Bestselling book …

The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, written by Dr. John Gottman. In this workshop you will find effective, practical, research-based tools and concepts that can help you create a happier, more connected relationship.

Are you in a committed relationship that is going well
but could use some extra support?

Don’t put off investing in your relationship!

Research shows that couples, on average, wait 6 years from the time they first experience significant relationship problems before they seek out support.

Your relationship deserves attention and care NOW.

Getting stuck in the same arguments, drifting apart, feeling distant and misunderstood…

These are COMMON experiences in relationships

but it doesn’t have to stay this way… or get worse.

There are tools and techniques you can learn and use to:

get out of old argument cycles, deepen your friendship and create more meaning and connection with your partner right now.

Join Me in:

Meet Your Instructor:

Hi! My name is Ali Parnell.

I’m an Educator for the Gottman workshops: Bringing the Baby Home & The 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work. I completed my training in the Summer of 2019 and I lead workshops for couples and new parents primarily in North Carolina, but also throughout the USA (and hopefully overseas someday!).

I graduated in 2011 with a degree in music and minor in psychology and in my early working years my career spanned several fields; as a private piano teacher, digital marketer and co-producer on a feature film.

Today, my passions have clarified, fitting more neatly into the fields of family psychology and spirituality. I continue to study and train in cutting-edge information and practices and I use my skills of teaching, creating and organizing to educate and lead families in living with deep connection and love with each other and the world.

On a more personal level, I’m the proud mother to Asher (3yr) & Aiden (3mo) and wife to Paul, my partner and friend, who has walked many journeys with me over our 7 years of marriage. Our marriage is a big reason WHY I am teaching what I teach today, because we were transformed as a couple when we began to learn and implement these principles, along with other practices.

I enjoy taking slow walks with my 3 year old as he marvels at every stick and rock, snuggling and smiling at my sweet 3mo, having a quiet evening chatting with my hubby and watching funny shows, and slowly drinking a cup of tea or coffee while journaling or reading almost any non-fiction book.

I am deeply curious about our humanness and how we relate to one another and I am striving to create a meaningful life for myself and my family.

As long as there is interest, I plan to lead between 3-6 workshops per year.

Can I get a refund?

There are no refunds. All sales are final.

However, if you are unable to attend after purchasing your ticket you may either transfer your ticket to another 7 Principles Workshop offered through this website within 6 months (as long as your request is made before the first session of the original workshop) or you may gift your ticket to another couple.

Do you have financial aid?

Yes. I have a select number of tickets availble for a discounted price for those currently experiencing financial hardship. Please contact me (at the bottom of the About page) for more information.

Do both of us have to attend?

Both partners must attend all sessions, so please check your calendars and make arrangements to be present.

Should I take this workshop if I have already done bringing baby home?

Yes! These workshops are complementary to each other. You will gain different things from going to each workshop.

Will we have to share our problems with others?

No. All exercises are done privately.

Do we have to read the book before the workshop?

It is not required, but you will get the most out of your time investment and financial investment if you either read the book prior to attending the workshop or read along with doing the workshop.

Am I a good fit for this workshop?

Couples of all ages, faiths and backgrounds are welcome and can benefit as well as any stage of relationship – from pre-engagement to decades of marriage.

However, Psycho-educational workshops are not appropriate for all couples, including those with severe relationship distress, significant emotional or physical abuse, serious emotional or mental health problems, relationships where one or both partners are actively addicted to drugs or alcohol, and relationships with serious compulsive behavior with gambling, sexual acting out, and other disruptive behaviors.

If you or your partner are experiencing any of these and would like support, please contact me (at the bottom of my about page) and I can provide appropriate referrals.

Is there childcare?

At this time we are not offering childcare, but it’s something we may consider for the future.
